🍻From AncIent Brews to Street SIps: A QuIck HIstory of LadIes SIppIn' Beer 🍻

Cracking open a cold one on the streets? It's not just a guy thing.😎

I recently designed this cool personalized Fabien based on her cool photo: A rad and beautiful lady sipping on a beer right there on the street!

Got me thinking about the awesome history of women and beer. Turns out, from ancient times to now, ladies have been the real bosses of brewing.

My doll? I think she turned in to a tiny salute to that history and the chill vibe of enjoying a cold one:

Here's to the brew-loving ladies who've been rocking it through the ages and those keeping the beer culture alive today.:

"Beer, at the very beginning of it's history, was a girl thing"

Ancient Girl Power

This tradition has its roots in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. People of all genders gathered in the open, sipping beer, and having a great time.

When Mesopotamians wanted to celebrate beer, they chose to dedicate their toasts to a goddess rather than a god. Her name was Ninkasi, a Sumerian deity who ruled over beer. Ninkasi was known for her lively and festive nature. It was believed that the spirit of Ninkasi dwelled within the beer itself. That euphoric feeling you experience after enjoying a few beers, or even just a glass for those of us who can't handle too much, was thought to be Ninkasi's essence. She truly knew how to have a good time.

Medieval Pub Queens

Fast forward to the Middle Ages in Europe, and the streets were filled with alehouses. Our fierce female patrons enjoyed beer both inside and outside. Talk about pub queens!

So if you traveled back in time to the Middle Ages or the Renaissance and went to a market in England, you’d probably see an oddly familiar sight: women wearing tall, pointy hats. In many instances, they’d be standing in front of big cauldrons.

But these women were no witches; they were brewers and probably happily drinking on the streets:))

Beer Garden Revolution, Babe Style

Germany is where beer gardens started to become popular in the 1800s, but don't think it was only for guys. Our leading lady was right there, enjoying the sun and savoring a cold one.

During the 1800s, women played a significant role in the beer industry in Germany. They were often involved in various aspects of brewing, including production, distribution, and even owning and operating their own breweries. This was particularly true in rural areas where brewing was a traditional household activity.

Street Sippin' Today

Fast-forward to the present, and street drinking is still incredibly popular. European plazas, Asian night markets, and streets all over the world, it's all about enjoying your beer outdoors with friends, good times, and a touch of rebellious spirit.

Whether it's ancient societies or today's street scenes, sharing a beer has always been a vibe that brings everyone together.

Cheers, my frie🍺🍺🍺🍺nds! 🍻
